New baby Mara in Ljubljana ZOO

Today I was really glad that Nikon D90 have movie mode. As usual when I have nothing to do, I went to Ljubljana ZOO to take some pictures. When I come to the mara and alpaca enclosure, I saw a little black fur-ball on the ground. It was new born baby Mara. I must have missed whelping for a couple of minuts at the most. Mother licked the new born and after he struggle to climb to a den, they both dissapeare in it.

VR would be nice, since even lense (Sigma 100-300 f/4) mounted on tripod can't prevent shaking and "jellying". But any way, I was very happy to shoot that movie.

Nikon D90 and Sigma f/4 100-300mm. Set at 300mm and f/4. On tripod. Without tripod at this focal length it would be impossible.

Nikon D90 movie-Carp fishing in Ljubljana

Here is my first movie made with Nikon D90. I have Nikon D90 on test for few days. First impresions? Big step forward from Nikon D80.
Since this is my "movie or video" blog, I will publish here my movies. Here is my first movie made with Nikon D90.

These are all expirienced anglers, so excitement was a joke, since carp was rather small.
Of course, carp was relesed after un-hooking.

I have some problems with Windows Movie Maker and Nikon D90 HD files, so movie is not exactly as I want it to be.

Tiger attack! Amazing!

A couple of weeks ago I saw a video clip on Discovery Chanel that I couldn't believe it was true. Well, it's true and it's amazing. Tigress is attacking man on an elephant (mahout). Height of a jump and speed of attack is unbelievable! The "fun" begin at 1min 50sec.

Nervous leopards and playful lioness

New female leopard is quite playful. She looks quite tamed, but you must be very cautious and never put your hand near the fence! She put her paw very easily through those fence rings and if she is not in the right mood, playing can and up in disaster! Today lioness was very playful. I don't believe, that she was aggressive, but if there was no fence, I would not be there...

Roaring in Ljubljana ZOO

Today it was quite an interesting morning in Ljubljana ZOO. It was foggy and cold morning, so I knew there would not be a lot of visitors, so I was at the gate before ZOO opening time. My main "task" was to make a video with lion roaring. When I was near wolfs cage, I heard some very load and odd roaring. I know how lion's roaring sound like, but that roaring was at completely different level. I went to lions cage to check it out. And then it started all over again. I do warn you. It's loud!
